My journey in design began with an intensive seven-year visual design education that culminated in an MFA degree from Pratt Institute. I believe in creating not just visually pleasing but also purposeful and intuitive solutions. In my work, I aim to simplify complex problems and create experiences that resonate with users.
I am committed to understanding the user and using my design to speak for them, which is often the root of my designs' passion. In my most recent role, I worked as a Product Designer at Microsoft, contributing my expertise to Microsoft Forms. I have a strong passion for innovation and always keep an eye on emerging design trends.
Outside of the work. I also like to do stupid things with my five-year-old cow cat “OREO”. If you share my passion for design and would like to explore creative opportunities, please feel free to reach out. Let's embark on a design journey together!
I’m Haowen Liu — a product designer based in Vancouver, BC, specializing in SaaS design, enterprise UX, and design systems.
My journey started with a deep passion for visual storytelling, leading me through seven years of design education and eventually earning my MFA from Pratt Institute. Over time, I transitioned into product design, where I found my passion in simplifying complexity through thoughtful, human-centered solutions.
I’ve worked with teams at Microsoft, CapeZero, Reflexions, and Xecta — designing tools that power clean energy finance, public transit, AI-enabled workflows, and oil & gas inspection systems. From building design systems used across multiple products to improving form creation for millions of Microsoft users, I focus on blending usability, clarity, and collaboration in everything I do.
When I’m not designing, you’ll probably find me at the gym, reading, or diving into something new. Let’s connect and create something great together! 🚀
